Undersheriff Ben Cole began his law enforcement career in October 2008 with the Fort Scott, Ks Police Department. He graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center in April 2009. He worked as a Fort Scott Patrol Officer and Field Training Officer where he trained new officers before attending the academy. Promoted to Sergeant in January 2013.
Undersheriff Cole accepted a position as Undersheriff with Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office in October 2013.
He has brought several changes to the Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office by implementing a records management system, a 24 hour service schedule for community protection and accountability for all deputies. He is responsible for the daily operations.
Undersheriff Cole participates in Seatbelts Are for Everyone (S.A.F.E.), Drug Enforcement Agency (D.E.A.), Prescription Drug Take-Back Program, Operation Life Saver (B.N.S.F.), Care for I-Dent Program- Mercy Hospital, Special Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P.), and the K-9 Program.
During off duty hours Ben is very active in the community by attending sporting events, Officiating High School Athletics, attending rodeos, and livestock shows with his family.
